Ode to Baby Blue

We only see them once each year

When nature brings new life, so dear

When trees grow leaves and flowers bloom

When winter's spent it's cold and doom

Mom doth set, her chicks to hatch, her mission tried and true

She'll fill the nest with speckled chicks who'll soon be gray or blue

Baby blues spring forth like the flowers on the vine

While dad doth show them  how and where to dine

For baby blues will one day, be as she and he

Tho' Mother Nature's  mapped their role to be,

They'll raise a clutch that's wise and healthy too

Each one will find their way, just like me and you

These beauties steal our hearts, as they frolic in the sun

But Dad has pushed them out to learn what need be done

They're clumsy when they try to land, and feeders try to cling

But Dad has done his part, and yearns to chirp and sing

Baby Blues you're such a treat, when you come back around

When you are blue or gray, as you are to be found

I'll hide you in my heart, till yours come forth next year

When you have brought to us, another round to cheer
