A marvelous scheme of shades of blue
Mingled with white and black and gray
An intricate pattern does on my back imbue
A mosaic masterpiece, as some might say
Nuts and berries are my fav'rit thing
But I love to play the peanut game
To grab and run like a dart you fling
I'm here, I'm gone, the nut's the same
I squawk a loud, unpleasant sound
Which sometimes warns of hawks to fear
No songbirds tweets or chirps are found
Just a warning of danger, when it is near
I'm not a bully as some might think
But like all nature, when you are large
You get your turn quick as a wink
You ain't no private, you are a sarge'
Blue is a color and also my name
I'm here to brighten your colorless day
I'm quick and smart and have much fame
I'm the one and only, American Blue Jay
